Faedell Elizabeth Norris

Faedell Norris, 93, was born November 18, 1919 in Mount Sylvian, TX to Ode and Ola Clifton Dennis and passed away February 4, 2013 in Lumberton, TX. At the age of 3, she moved to Pineland, TX and then Beaumont at age 4. Faedell and her sister, Winifred and other friends would catch the bus or walk downtown to go to the movies or get ice cream at the local Walgreens Drug Stores. She was a graduate of Beaumont High School, working as a cashier at ABC Stores until her marriage to John Carlos Norris in 1937. She went to work at Sears in 1953 as temporary Christmas help. She was called in January to help do inventory until she was hired on permanently in 1954. She worked at Sears in the piecework/notions department and retired after 28 years; however she still was the Treasurer of the retired Sears Employees until just recently. Mrs. Norris loved being a member of Young at Heart, involved in Sunday School and was in the Eastern Star while attending First Baptist Church of Loeb. She was also an avid quilter, a great cook and loved yard work and flowers.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, Thursday, February 7 at First Baptist Church of Loeb, officiated by Pastor Mark Smith. Interment will follow at Resthaven Cemetery in Silsbee. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 – 9:00 PM at Claybar Kelley Watkins Funeral Home.
Mrs. Norris is survived by her son, John Nevelle Norris and wife, Dorothy, of Lumberton; grandson, Steve Norris; granddaughters, Shari Pratt and husband, Dana and Leslie Odom; great-grandsons, Bart Simon and Brandon Tillery and wife, Danielle; great-granddaughters, Cierra and Cheyenne Odom and great-great-granddaughter, Kennedy Ann Tillery. She was preceded in death December 5, 1996 by her husband of 59 years, John Carlos Norris and her sister, Winifred Warner.
