Floyd L. Mitchell, Jr. Mitch, 85, of Beaumont, died at home on October 6, 2008. Floyd was born September 2, 1923 to Floyd and Ruby Mitchell in Cushing, OK.
Having lived in the Sourth Park area most of his life, he left school to join the US Marines in 1943. He was a veteran of World War II. After the war he returned to Beaumont and started working for Pure Oil Refinery and retired as an operator for Unocal 76 oil refinery after 37 years of service. He enjoyed owning, repairing and riding various motorcycles and cars constantly "tinkering" with all types of motors.
He will be deeply missed by his wife of 38 years, Joyce Mitchell; daughters, Faye Hofferth and husband David of Beaumont, Robin Kehoe and husband Jim of Berlin, NJ; three grandchildren, Lara McCullough and husband Michael of Lumberton, Lindsey and Kelli Kehoe of Berlin, NJ; three great grandchildren, Kyle, Kade and Quinn McCullough of Lumberton and a host of relatives and friends.
Following cremation, the family will have a private gathering to celebrate his life.
