Frances Ligon Curtis, 93, of Beaumont, Texas, passed away on March 19, 2021, in The Woodlands, Texas.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 22, 2021, at Wesley United Methodist Church in Beaumont. Officiating will be Rev. Rick Ivey of Wesley United Methodist Church in Beaumont and Rev. Robert Besser. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont.
Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday at Wesley United Methodist Church in Beaumont, Texas.
Born in Beaumont, Texas, on June 11, 1927, Fran was the 2nd child born to Albert Pierce Ligon and Ruth (Holmsley) Ligon. She attended Beaumont schools and graduated from Beaumont High School in 1943. Fran worked as a secretary for many years. She met Pal Curtis in 1946 and became his wife on March 6, 1948; they were married for 50 years. Fran joined North End Methodist Church in 1954, which later became Wesley United Methodist Church. She loved to sing in the choir and was a member of the Fidelis class. Fran was a Life Member for over 70 years of Beaumont Chapter No. 71 Order of the Eastern Star. She was a huge fan of the Astros and loved watching the games every chance she got. For over 65 years Fran and her close friends would get together regularly, and they called themselves “the sewing club”.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnson Powell “Pal” Curtis of Beaumont, Texas; parents, Albert and Ruth Ligon; and two sisters, Patsy Ligon Wood and Margie Ligon McKnight.
She is survived by her son, David Curtis and wife Maggie; daughter, Cay Diadiun and husband Tim, and Ruby, and daughter, Patti Curtis and Luther; as well as three grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be John Richmond, Scott Richmond, Eric Sachs, Chuck Lewis, David Johnson, and David “2” Steward.
