Frances Furnace, 69, of Orange, passed away on April 24, 2014, at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, April 27, 2014, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Burial will follow at Granger Cemetery in Duncan Woods.
Visitation will be from 5:00-9:00 p.m., Saturday April 26, 2014 at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Born in Orange, Texas, on July 28, 1944, she was the daughter of Franklin Davis Mitchell and Bernice (Gunter) Mitchell. Frances worked at Equitable Bag Co. for twenty years before entering into the medical field; where she worked as a Hospice nurse and was known as “The Guardian Angel”. Frances was nominated for the Jefferson Award for the work she did with Hospice. She retired from Baptist Hospital in Beaumont where she worked as an admission clerical. Frances loved her family, pets, and was very passionate about her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Furnace and her brother, Butch Mitchell.
She is survived by her son, Paul Calhoon and wife Rhonda of Orangefield; daughter, Melinda Steepleton and husband Charles Vidor; grandchildren, Brandi Sliman and husband Justin of Vidor, Jason Steepleton of Vidor, Sheritta Nesbitt of Austin, Jeffery Calhoon of Lumberton, Calvin Calhoon of Vidor, and Dillon Steepleton of Vidor; great-grandchildren Jayden, James, Nora, Jeff Jr., and Gunter .
Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Steepleton, Calvin Calhoon, Dillon Steepleton, Austin Shirley, Jeffery Calhoon, and Jon Whisenhunt Jr.
