Fred Rudolph Hanauer, Jr. 80, of Orange, passed away on September 30, 2020, at his home.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 5, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend Jay Thomas of McArthur Heights Church. Burial will follow at Orange Forest Lawn in West Orange.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Born in Taylorville, Illinois, on May 8, 1940, he was the son of Fred Rudolph Hanauer, Sr. and Mary Ellen (Olehy) Pickett. Fred proudly served his country in the United States Navy aboard the USS Stribling and was also a member of the Texas State Guard for 17 years. He worked for Owens Illinois who later became Inland Orange and retired from there after 37 years of hard work. Fred was an outdoorsman who loved spending his spare time fishing and hunting. While working for Inland Orange he was the secretary for their hunting club and also won several trophies in the Bass club. Fred was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred Hanauer, Sr. and Mary Pickett.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Charline Marie (Wirth) Hanauer; children Mary Kay Sapp and husband Michael of Byron, Georgia, Rhonda Lynn Hanauer and fiancé Richard Steppe of Ivor, Virginia, Fred Rudolph Hanauer, III and wife Linda of Orange, Stephanie Marie Harrison and husband Terry of Orange, and Cara Lea Buckley and husband Johnny also of Orange; twenty four grandchildren; twenty four great grandchildren; siblings, Bruce Stiki and wife Shirley of Tampa, Florida, Marcia R. Brown of Muncie, Indiana, Lala Sparks of Orange, Regina Dunn and husband Ottie of Cibolo, Texas, and Joeline Mann and husband Bill of Taylorville, Illinois; niece, Debbie Mann; and numerous other nieces, nephews, and other family members.
Serving as pallbearers will be Daniel O’Brien, Johnny Buckley, Terry Harrison, Abimael Alvarez, Kristopher Harrison, and Chris Doucet. Honorary pallbearers are Andy O’Brien, Bill Bush, Ramsey Gordon, Andrew Font, Troy Stone, Ryan Hanauer, Isaiah Alvarez, Jeremiah Alvarez, Landyn Doucet, Samantha Blount.
