Born in Starkville, Mississippi, on August 12, 1951, he was the son of Billy Richard Kemp and Shirley (McHan) Kemp. Gary was a retiree from Dupont before also retiring from Energy Transfer, where he worked many loyal years as an electrician. He had many hobbies, some of which were fishing and hunting with his sons and grandchildren, watching Nascar, riding his motorcycle, and making sure to attend his grandchildren’s sporting events every time he could. Gary spent many years coaching his son’s baseball teams and was known to be the best “Supervisor” of other people’s work. He enjoyed traveling every chance he got, especially to the hill country of Texas, and he loved living the lake life. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his 6 grandchildren, who affectionately called him “PawPaw” or “Paw” for short.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Billy and Shirley Kemp.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 44 years, Alice Kemp; his sons, Chad Kemp and wife Ashley, and Brent Kemp and wife Jordan; his brothers, Tracy Kemp and wife Mary, and Terry Kemp; his grandchildren, Caden, Bronson, Brynlee, Baylee, Tatum, and Brystol; his aunts, Sue Fisette and husband Rod, and Ann Perry and husband Carl; along with numerous other loving family members and friends.
