Gary Kolb

Funeral services for Gary Kolb, 60, of Beaumont, TX, will be on Friday, June 6, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. in the Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home Chapel with Lloyd Austin officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Cemetery. There will be a gathering of friends on Thursday, June 5, at the funeral home from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Gary was born January 16, 1948 in Ringgold, LA to Tillmon Kolb and Marie Kolb and passed away on June 3, 2008, after a courageous battle with lung cancer.
Many will remember Gary's salon, Fame, which opened in 1983 and eventually grew to three locations. In 1986, he and Mark Jefferson became co-owners of Tizzy's Hair Salon where he worked until a week before his death. He especially loved the beach and would spend most weekends there. Gary also loved to dance.
He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Nancy Ann Kolb. Those left to cherish his memory are dearest friend, Joyce Thornborough; friend and business partner for 26 years, Mark Jefferson; godchild, Lilli Luquette; many nephews and nieces; brother Donnie Kolb and wife, Carolynette, of Mauriceville, brother, Tom Kolb and wife Kathy of Norcross, GA, sister, Carrie Smith and husband, Bo of The Woodlands, sister, Keitha Pinnix and husband, Steve, of Beaumont and countless friends.
Those serving as pallbearers will be Davey Thornborough, Jimmy Boggan, Chris Kolb, Jay Kolb, Joshua Kolb, Fred Simon, Nolan Deshazo, Kevin Clenedden, Todd Clenedden, John Evans, Wes Simonetti, and Dennis Leesman.
Gary was especially thankful for his dearest friend, Joyce for her love and, especially, for their trips to Houston. He was also thankful for his nephews, Chris and Jay, for their help with his parents during their illness and a special thank you to his loyal clients. Gary's friends and family also extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Odyssey House and Drs. Scott McKinney and Frank Folsella.
