Gary Wayne Rost, 70, of Orange, Texas, passed away on November 17, 2022, peacefully at home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend Jeff Bell. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Orange.
Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 9:30 a.m. at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Born in Orange, Texas, on September 26, 1952, he was the son of Saul Rost and Mable Hardy Rost. Gary was a huge fan of the Dallas Cowboys and loved watching their games, even when they lost. He enjoyed racing hot rods and being a rodeo cowboy. You could often find Gary eating at a local restaurant with family and friends. He was a faithful Christian man and attended many churches in the area over the years. Gary dearly cherished his friendship with his best friend, R.J. Breaux. Gary was loved by many and will be deeply missed by those who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Saul and Mable Rost; brothers, J.V. Taylor, R.J. Taylor, L.J. Rost, and Horace Rost.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters, Michelle LeBlanc and husband Joe, of Mauriceville, Texas, Misty Merritt and husband Robert, of Orange, Texas, Courtney Rost, of Georgia; son, Matthew Rost and partner Alex, of Georgia; grandchildren, Madalyn Tran-Reno, Joseph LeBlanc and wife Kahala, Jordan Kohler and husband Chris, and Easton Merritt; great-grandchildren, McKarsyn, Ayden, Carter, and Landrie.
Serving as pallbearers will be Easton Merritt, Robert Merritt, Joe LeBlanc, Chad Taylor, Kelly Taylor, and Warren Rost. Honorary pallbearers are R.J. Breaux and Joseph LeBlanc.
