Gene Allen Breaux, 77, of Orange passed away Thursday, October 3, 2013 at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 7, 2013, St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Father Tom Phelan will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Orange.
Serving as pallbearers will be Julian Breaux, Joshua Morris, God-Son; Jerry Viator, Ricky Viator, Jeffrey Viator and Rusty Benoit. Honorary Pallbearer will be lifelong buddy/brother, Orey Viator.
Visitation will begin 4:00 p.m., Sunday, October 6, 2013, with a Wake Service at 6:00 p.m. at Claybar Funeral Home, Orange.
Gene was born in Rayne, LA on December 18, 1935 to Elias and Cynthia Milligan Breaux. He was a lifelong resident of Orange. He went to school in Orange and also went to Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. Gene served as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army National Guard for 9 ½ years. He worked as a pipefitter with Local 195 and retired after 55 years. Gene was instrumental in organization of Little League softball for girls from Tyler to Liberty, Texas. He worked in Little League for boys as well and was the Assistant District Director, President and Tournament Director. He was a member of the Pinehurst Lions Club for 20 years, a member of the Eagles of Orange and life member of the American Legion. Gene also was a life member of West Orange High School PTA.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his favorite pups; Mackie and Nicky.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years; Jo-Ann Breaux, son; Todd Breaux, daughter; Karen Breaux Morris and husband Jeff; 4 grandchildren; Valarie and Joshua Morris and Dawn and Julian Breaux and 6 great-grandchildren; Madison Melancon, Peyton Melancon, Brayden McRae, Jace Morris, Addison Morris, Gavin Morris all of Orange.
