Geneva Wickware

1935 ∼ 2023

GENEVA WICKWARE
Geneva was a loving Daughter, Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. She was born in Winnfield, La on July 29, 1935. Geneva graduated high school in Winnfield and moved to Texas shortly after to begin her life after marrying John Kusnir, deceased. Geneva had two children, Joey and Alice.
Geneva and her family attended First Baptist Church in Port Arthur, where she taught 2nd grade Sunday School. Upon moving to Bridge City, TX in 1976, she moved her membership to First Baptist – BC, where she is still a member.
Geneva was a member of Eastern Star Chapter 262 out of Port Arthur. She became Worthy Matron in 1986.
Early on, Geneva attended Port Arthur college and was snatched up by a Legal firm before she completed her course of study. She was known at the courthouse as a "stickler" who never made mistakes in her paperwork. After leaving the Law firm industry, Geneva became the Manager of several apartment complexes in Orange, TX.
She later married Robert (Bob) Wickware, deceased. Geneva met Bob through First Baptist, BC. The couple enjoyed outings with other church members, as well as visiting their children in various cities in Texas.
Geneva is best known for her generosity and general caring for other people. She was always baking pies for the sick, or downhearted. She made it a priority to visit the local hospitals and nursing homes on a regular basis.
Geneva was a very independent individual who never asked for help. At 80 years old, she was still out mowing her yard, cleaning gutters and keeping an immaculate house.
In the end, Dementia took control over her mind and body. Geneva moved to Waco, TX in 2018 where she lived out her remaining years.
Geneva was preceded in death by her mother, Clara Wallace; two sisters: Lillian Carter & Julian Godek; two brothers: Vernon Wallace & Philip Wallace.

This is addressed to Geneva's children. Your mother was an Eastern Star sister of mine from Orange chapter number 214. She was always excellent at her memory work. She was always a cheerful person and all loved her at Orange chapter 214. I'm just learning of her death and I am so sorry I would have loved to pay her respect. I'll try to find her burial and visit her there. When I bought my home 23 years ago Geneva was the only person who offered to help me move in. She put up dishes and various things so I could get settled in my new home. Your mother was indeed a caring and generous person. I remember her bringing people to chapter who were unable to drive. I also know firsthand she would take people to doctor appointments. And follow up with phone calls. I recall her sight had diminished. And I worried about her. It broke my heart that I lost touch with her. I asked many Eastern Star members if they knew what had happened to her. I just want you to know that I loved your mother dearly and I always will. I look forward to visiting with her in heaven. God bless you both! Ann
