George W. Brown, 77, of Navarre, Florida and longtime resident of Bridge City, Texas, passed away on February 7, 2018, in Milton, Florida.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, February 12, 2018, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Pastor Dale Lee, of Cowboy Church of Orange County. Burial will follow the service at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Born in Monroe, Louisiana, on November 5, 1940, he was the son of Thomas B. “Jack” Brown and Arma Dykes Brown. George worked as a Lab Analyst for DuPont for 22 years. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force stationed in Japan and Korea. He also served in the United States Coast Guard. George had a love of sailing, fishing, and being on the water. Following his retirement from DuPont, George sailed around the Florida Keys and the Bahamas living on his sailboat. His favorite place was Gilbert’s Marina in Key Largo, Florida. George loved his family dearly and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
George was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Arma; loving wife, Darlene Brown; and his brother, Tommy Brown.
Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Kristi Smith and husband Mark, of Houston, TX, Pam Robertson and husband David, of Navarre, FL, and Tony Brown and wife Beth, of Orange, TX; step-son, Vance Comeaux and wife Teresa, of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Tyler Smith, Shelby Smith, Ryan Gaspard, Ashley Comeaux, Madison Comeaux, and McKena Comeaux; and his siblings, Linda Wheat, of Bridge City, TX and Brenda Harrison and husband Jerry, of Orange, TX .
Serving as pallbearers will be Mark Smith, Tyler Smith, Ryan Gaspard, David Robertson, Vance Comeaux, and Charles Lewis.
