George Harvel Hubert

George Harvel Hubert, 86, of Bridge City, Texas died Thursday, September 30, 2010, at Promise Hospital in Nederland.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 3, 2010, at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Bridge City. Officiating will be Reverend David Logan of the Word of Life Church in Groves. Burial will follow at Orange Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m., Saturday at the funeral home.

Born in West Orange, Texas, on February 29, 1924, George was the son of Bertie Mae Wasson and Samuel Kenny Hubert, Sr. He served in the United States Navy during WWII and worked as an instrument mechanic at Dupont Sabine River Works.

George was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Gary Howard Morse, Jr.; and brothers, S.K. Hubert, Jr. and V.K. Hubert.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Marie Hubert of Bridge City; daughter and son-in-law Andria and George Anderson of Port Arthur; 2 grandchildren, Keli Graham of Orangefield, and Seth Anderson and wife Carol of Fort Bragg, North Carolina; 6 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Bernice Fletcher of Port Arthur; very special nephew, James Mitchell and wife Charlene, their son and daughter-in-law, Bryan and Holly Mitchell and their boys; and numerous other nieces and nephews.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Seth Anderson, Bryan Mitchell, Steven Stevie Hubert, Fred Iky Hubert, Richard Ricky Hubert, and Tommy Prejean.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
