Gerald "Jerry" Pesson

September 15, 1941 — September 3, 2009

Gerald F. "Jerry" Pesson, 67, of Woodville, passed away September 3, 2009 in Conroe, Texas. A resident of Woodville for the past 11 years, he was a former longtime resident of Bridge City. Jerry was born in New Iberia, LA and raised in Seguin, TX. He met his wife while serving his country in the US Army. Together they raised their family, whom he referred to as his "5 Queens" in Bridge City.

Jerry was a respected entrepreneur in the area, opening and building several businesses including Bridge City R.V. He served his community as a member of the Bridge City Volunteer Fire Dept., where he served as Chief for many years. Jerry was a founding member and the first president of Bridge City Rotary Club and was also an active member of the Chamber of Commerce and St. Henry's Catholic Church. Besides his community service and church activity, Jerry was well known for his great love of hunting.

Upon retirement, he moved to Woodville where he became very active in Our Lady of the Pines Catholic Church, was a proud member of the Catholic ACTS community and the most recent recipient of the Stewardship Award given by the Diocese of Beaumont. Jerry and his wife, Bobbie, developed the Triple Creek RV Park in Woodville and began a tradition of bluegrass and gospel music weekends.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Barbara "Bobbie" Pesson of Woodville; daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl and Mike Zeto of Orangefield, Cathy and Leonard Cox of Bryan, Crissy and Tony Koch of Lumberton and Cherie and Curtis Stanley of Fred; sister, Sylvia Weldon; sister-in-law, Bonnie Pesson and 15 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Nolia Broussard Pesson and brother, Dalton Pesson.

A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church in Beaumont with interment to follow in the Haven of Rest Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-9:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home with a Rosary and Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m.
