Gertrude Sparks, 91, of Orange, Texas, passed away on March 12, 2020.
Funeral services will be 2 pm, Monday, March 16, 2020, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange, Texas. Officiating will be Reverend Rob Tibbits of Crossroads Baptist Church in Vinton, Louisiana. Burial will follow at Mimosa Pines Cemetery in Sulphur, Louisiana.
Visitation will be prior to the service from 10 am, Monday, March 16, 2020, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Born in Natchitoches, Lousiana, she was the daughter of Ve Longlois and Ida (Booty) Longlois. Gertrude was a loving wife and a devoted mother. She loved her family so much. Her world revolved around her children and grandchildren. They could do no wrong in her eyes. Gertrude enjoyed talking to her friends and family members on the phone whenever she could. Mrs. Sparks loved having her family gather at her house; the sounds of her family and friends laughter filling her house brought her great joy. Gertrude loved square-dancing with Mr. Sparks, they were members of the Merry Mixers of Orange. Gertrude was a wonderful woman who was always there for her friends and family. Gertrude will be greatly missed. Mrs. Sparks blessed her family with so many wonderful memories that she helped to create. She may be gone but she most certainly won’t be forgotten.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband Howard “Sparky” Sparks; daughter, Beverly Tully; great-grandson, Garret Vice; and her 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
She is survived by her children, Mike Sparks and wife Lisa of Nederland, Texas and Dennis Sparks and wife Sonya of Orange; grandchildren, Chris Vice and wife Buffy, Megan Jackson, Kevin Sparks and wife Jessica, and Chad Sparks and wife Michelle; great grandchildren, Kristin Vice and Hensley Morgan.
Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Sparks, Dennis Sparks, Chad Sparks, Kevin Sparks, and Chris Vice.
