Gladys Williams Arnold, 94, of Orange, Texas, passed away on December 17, 2017, in Beaumont, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 22, 2017, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend Chris Lewis of Community Church in Orange. Burial will follow the service at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange.
Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m.
Born in Broaddus, Texas, Gladys was the daughter of Emory Williams and Rosa Mae (Marshall) Williams. She was a very involved member of Community Church. She proudly served her country in the United States Army in WWII and made lifelong friends during her time serving. Gladys worked as a librarian for the City of Orange for 19 years. She enjoyed spending her spare time playing dominos, watching talk shows, reading, and traveling. She was a very well rounded woman, even being trained in Judo. Gladys loved her grandsons and great-grandsons dearly and will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Emory and Rosa Mae Williams; loving husband, Willard Arnold; and her siblings, Joe Williams, Basil Williams, Bobby Shelton Williams, Inez Carrell, Hazel Lane, and Carmadle Locke.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Deborah Ann Arnold; grandchildren, Jimmy Lee Weeks, Jr., Stephanie Weeks, Shelly Bass, all of Orange, and Joe Lynn Caraway, Jr. and wife Christine, of Port Neches; great-grandchildren, Brayden Lynn Weeks and Trey Weeks, of Orange; and her brother, Billy Gene Williams, of Broaddus.
Serving as pallbearers will be Joe Lynn Caraway, Jr., Trey Weeks, Jacob Miller, Bryan Miller, Johnny Miller, and Robert Williams. Honorary pallbearers are Joe Caraway, Sr., Jimmy Lee Weeks, Jr., and Nathan Miller.
