Gladys Lavern (Bickham) Johnson

Gladys Lavern (Bickham) Johnson, 82, of Orange, Texas, passed away on June 24, 2023, at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 30, 2023, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Brother Rob Tibbitts. Burial will follow at King Cemetery in Deweyville, Texas.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, June 29, 2023, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

Born in Greyburg, Texas, on March 12, 1941, she was the daughter of James Arnold Bickham and Lucille (Berry) Bickham. Gladys was employed as a sales associate for Walmart. She had a special place in her heart for yellow roses and adored her sweet furbaby, Winston. Gladys loved spending time with her family, and they will always cherish their memories of her. She will be missed dearly by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Melton Johnson; parents, James and Lucille Bickham; son, Gary Johnson; brothers, James Marlin Bickham and Norman Lee Bickham; and daughter-in-law, Carmen Johnson.

She is survived by her daughter, Karen Elizabeth Johnson Robinson and husband, Sidney Robinson of Orange; son, Melton Fred Johnson, Jr. of Orange; grandchildren, Casey Robinson and wife, Keisha of Hardin, Christopher Robinson and wife, Mandie of Orange, Steven Robinson of Orange, Zachary Johnson of Denver, Colorado, Tyler Johnson and wife, Jessica of Bridge City, Hailey Johnson of Orange, Travis Johnson and wife, Callie of Dallas, and Saria Lynn Johnson; many great-grandchildren; brothers, Billy W. Bickham and wife, Avis of Orange, Burliss A. Bickham and wife, Barbara of Sugarland, and Joseph Douglas Bickham and wife, Marie of Orange; sister-in-law, Sylvia Bickham of Orange; as well as numerous other loving family and friends.

Serving as pallbearers will be Casey Robinson, Travis Johnson, Steven Robinson, Christopher Robinson, Tyler Johnson, and Zachary Johnson. Honorary pallbearer is Gladys’ beloved furbaby, Winston.
