Obituary
Gladys Barbre Nixon, 84, of Orange, passed away on August 5, 2017, at The Meadows in Orange.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., August 7, 2017, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Burial will be held 1:00 P.M., Thursday, August 10, 2017, at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, in San Antonio, Texas.
Born in Marksville, Louisiana, on July 31, 1933, she was the daughter of Steve Barbre and Mary Henderson. Gladys has been very involved in the military social clubs and enjoyed being a wife. She also helped raise money in Leon Valley to build a library for the community.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Henry Davidson Nixon; her brothers, Earl Barbre and Ellis “Buddy” Barbre; and her sister, Bernice Kelley.
She is survived by her siblings, Steve Barbre and his wife, Brenda, Juanita Banse, Lorraine Nichols, Alfred Barbre and wife, Noreta, and Allen Barbre.
