Glenn Garry Martin, 85, of Katy, Texas, passed away on March 19, 2022.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, April 3, 2022, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange, Texas. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m., Sunday, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

Born in Los Angeles, California, on October 10, 1936, Garry was the son of Glenn Lloyd Martin and Marjorie Patricia (Campbell) Martin.

The family lived in Long Beach, CA until 1950 when they moved to Orange, TX, where Garry graduated from Lutcher Stark High School in 1954. He went on to play football at Texas A&M under lengendary coach Paul “Bear” Bryant for several years, He married Gail Gammage Martin, also from Orange, in 1957 and afterwards, served honorably in the U.S. Army in Germany. The couple settled in Houston in the early 1960’s, where Garry graduated from the University of Houston. In his long career in the steel and manufacturing industries, he helped lead several successful oil field equipment service companies.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Patricia Martin; loving wife, Gail Gammage Martin; sister, Glenda McAlister; brother-in-law, Dwayne McAlister; and aunt, Kathleen Campbell.

He is survived by his children, David Alec Martin and wife Shannon, Jon Michael Martin and wife Julie, Katherine Martin Gerber and husband Jeff; grandchildren, Rylee Martin, Jordan Martin Frederick and husband Nathan, Zoe Martin, Wyatt Martin, Alexis Gerber, Lauren Gerber, and Allison Gerber; nieces Lauryn McAlister Bary and husband Jon and Meredith McAlister Kraus and husband Emerson, and nephew Darrin McAlister.
