Greydon Gordon Baldwin, Sr., 92, of Orange, passed away surrounded by loved ones on October 13, 2021, in Orange.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 17, 2021, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend Gary McCormick of First Christian Church. Burial will follow at Orange Forest Lawn in West Orange.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Saturday, October 16, 2021, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Born in Sibley, Missouri, on June 24, 1929, he was the son of Ruler G. Baldwin and Laura (Archer) Baldwin. Greydon served bravely in the United States Navy aboard the USS Badoeng Strait Air Craft Carrier and served in Guam. Greydon was a hard worker and excelled at any profession he put his mind to. While employed with DuPont he attended school at Lamar University to obtain his Mechanical Engineering degree. He dedicated 44 years of hardwork and devotion to DuPont before retiring. He did consulting in Spokane Washington and was Fire Chief for Sabine Neches Chiefs and taugh Fire Safety through Lamar. Greydon was a faithful member of First Christian Church, where he took great joy in serving his Lord. He was a Cub Scout Master and a Scout Master for many years while his son was an Eagle Scout. Greydon was an avid tennis player, and enjoyed playing bridge, dominos, and other card games. He loved travelling with his wife and making as many memories as he could with her. Greydon was an incredible husband, father, brother, and grandfather and will be deeply missed by all those he left an impact on.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruler and Laura Baldwin; brother, Rosoe Baldwin; and sisters, Juanita Thibodeaux and Gwenda Dunkle.
He is survived by his loving wife of almost 74 years, LaVerne Baldwin; son, Greydon G. Baldwin, Jr. and wife Judy B. Baldwin; grandchildren, Mindy M. Currie and husband Robert W. Currie of Orange and Laura B. Reed and husband Morgan A. Reed of Katy; great-grandchildren, Jaycee C. Reed, Peyton Grey McKee, Mia M. Reed, Paige E. McKee, Sullivan A. Reed, Brooke Dixon and Todd Dixon; and great-great-grandchildren, Addilyn, Logan, and Charlotte Dixon.
Serving as pallbearers will be Robert Currie, Morgan Reed, Peyton Grey McKee, Sullivan Reed, Eddie Faulk, Mark Foreman and Michael T. Barnes. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Mike Cotton and Jerry Cotton.
