Hazel C. Johnson

January 12, 1936 — November 19, 2010

Hazel Claire Clark Johnson passed away peacefully Friday afternoon, Nov. 19, 2010 after a long illness. Born on January 12, 1936, Hazel grew up in LeCompte, La. She married Charles E. Hudgins in July, 1954, and they moved to the Golden Triangle Area in 1958, finally settling in Orange County in 1971. She retired from Chevron where she met her husband Ernest Clint Johnson, whom she married in January, 1988.

Hazel and Clint Johnson were dedicated members of Grace Community Church of Vidor where he serves as Deacon, and they both were honored as "Mother and Father" of the church. They are indebted to all the members of this wonderful church family for their fellowship through the years and especially their support through Hazel's illness.

She is preceded in death by her parents Sylvan William and Jewel Pearl Clark and her brother R. C. Clark. She is survived by her husband Clint Johnson of Orange, Tx.; her three daughters and son-in-law Charlene Hudgins of Fargo, ND, Marcy Carr of Orange, Tx., and Sherri and Mike Wiley of Orange, Tx.; her three sons and daughters-in-law Gene and Alicia Johnson, Randy Johnson, and Gary and Sarah Johnson all of Sour Lake, Tx.; and her beloved sister Nevada Brison of Nederland, Tx. She is also survived by her grandchildren and their spouses Mike and Rebecca Wiley, Jr. of McLewis, Tx., Ryan and Victoria Carr of Bridge City, Tx., and Mary Jewel and Alex Sfarjilani of Little Elm, Tx., Stephen Johnson of Salt Lake City, Ut., Lindsey and Jeremy Johnson of Nome, Tx., Mark Johnson of Austin, Tx., and Derek Cook of Nome, Tx., as well as her great-grandchildren Chelsea and Alyssa Wiley of McLewis, Tx. and Keaden and Zoic Carr of Bridge City, Tx. She was looking forward to the birth of another great-granddaughter to her grandchild Mary Jewel in March. She also leaves behind many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Hazel's funeral service will be at Claybar Funeral Home at 504 N. 5th St. in Orange, Tx. at 2:00 on Monday, November 22, 2010 with interment at Orange Forest Lawn Cemetery in West Orange following the service. Viewing will be on Sunday, November 21, 2010 at Claybar Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Benevolence Dinner will be held at Cove Baptist Church Fellowship Hall at 1005 DuPont Dr. in Orange following the graveside services. Pallbearers are Mike Wiley, Jr., Ryan Carr, Alex Sfarjilani, Randy Johnson, Gary Johnson, and Colbert Steele. Honorary pallbearer is Gene Johnson.
