Helen Gwyndolyn Gresham, 91, of Orange, Texas, passed away on October 20, 2017, at her home in Orange, Texas.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange, Texas. Officiating will be Pastor John Warren of First United Methodist Church in Orange, Texas.
A memorial service will be held at Slade Chapel at 11:30 a.m., followed by a reception at the Family Life Center.
Born in Luling, Texas, on August 19, 1926, she was the daughter of Noble Gray and Bessie Gray. Helen was a devout member of First United Methodist Church. She taught in the Orange area for 40 years, and enjoyed every second of it. One of her biggest passions in life besides her family was sewing children’s clothes. She was a member of the Texas Local Teacher’s Association as well as the Heirloom Sewing Club in Sulphur, Louisiana. Helen held family extremely close to her. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Helen’s family would like to give a special thanks to her caregivers and Best Hospice.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Noble and Bessie Gray; her husband Garland Gresham; her sister Camilla Page; and her brothers James, William, Charles, and Donald Gray.
She is survived by her daughter, Patti Goforth of Orange, Texas; her son, Joe Don Gresham and wife Cassie of Houston, Texas; her grandchildren Emily Lowe of Orange, Texas, and Keet Goforth and wife Shanon of Call, Texas; great-grandchildren Hanna and Cooper Lowe of Orange, Texas; in laws, Travis and Janice Gresham of Orange, Texas; her dear friends, Karen Rice, and Cathy Self; as well as many other nieces, nephews and extended family.
In lieu of flowers her family asks that donations be made in her honor to The Methodist Children’s Home, 1111 Herring Ave., Waco, TX 76708.
