Funeral services for Dr. Henry Keller Maier, Jr., 92, of Beaumont will be held on Monday, September 29, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Beaumont with Reverend Frank Fuller and Reverend Byron Crocker officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange. Visitation will be Sunday from 5 - 7 p.m. at Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home in Beaumont.
Dr. Maier was born August 28, 1916 in Orange, Texas and passed away September 26, 2008 at Christus Hospital-St. Elizabeth in Beaumont. A resident of Beaumont for 70 years, Dr. Maier was a veterinarian until he retired in 1955 and became the General Manager for Harding and Lawler Steel Fabrication in Beaumont. A 1938 graduate of Texas A&M, he was active in the Texas A&M Beaumont Club and was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church.
He was an avid outdoorsman and hunter, served for many years as the president of the 101 Gun Club and was an active member and supporter of Ducks Unlimited.
He is survived by his wife Louise Roy Maier of Beaumont; son, William Edward Maier of Orange; daughter, Susan M. Blum of Groveton; stepdaughter and son-in-law, Pam and Billy Burrow of Orange; and one grandson, Benjamin Blum of Groveton.
In lieu of flowers, friends may direct memorial contributions to the Texas A&M Beaumont Club or St. Mark's Episcopal Church.
