Henry M. Denton, 82, of Orange, died Thursday, January 10, 2008, at Baptist Memorial Herman Hospital in Orange.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January, 13, 2008, at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange. Reverend David Turner of Little Cypress Baptist Church will officiate. Interment will follow at Orange Forest Lawn.
Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
Henry was born December 13, 1925, in Colfax, LA, to Henry and Ollie Walsworth Denton.
Henry’s priorities in life were serving God, his family and his country. He was a WWII Veteran who served in the US Navy from 1944-1945 aboard the USS Ommaney Bay. He retired from Equitable Bag Co. in 1990 after 38 years and was president of Paper Makers Union for 35 years.
He was a member of Little Cypress Baptist Church since 1955, where he served as Brotherhood president in adult Sunday school for a number of years.
Henry is preceded in death by his daughter, Rhonda Denton Alsandor.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Estelle Denton; son, Ronnie Denton and wife Kirby, son, Greg Denton and wife Danna, son in law Darrell Alsandor; grandchildren, Melissa Denton, Rodney “Skipper” and Patti Denton, Donnell and Maranna Barefield, Elly Hymes, Aaron and Robyn Ewers, Ryan White, Victoria Alsandor, Nicholas Alsandor, Michael Watson, Taylor Denton and Korey Denton; eight great grandchildren and one great great grandson.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jimmie Vollm, David Paige, Travis Meredith, Brian Strohm, Ken Juneau, James Amons and Joe Hudson.
Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to Little Cypress Baptist Church Building Fund in honor of Henry Denton.
