Horace James Cormier Sr., 79, of Bridge City, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home on June 15, 2025, in Bridge City Tx.

A Memorial Gathering will be held from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Sunday, June 22, 2025, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City. Visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m. prior to the Memorial Gathering.

Born in Rayne, Louisiana, on February 15, 1946, he was the son of Odelion Cormier and Rena Lavergne Cormier. Retiring from a successful career in the oil and gas industry, Horace exemplified a strong work ethic that shaped his approach to life. He was a man of the depression era, with a no-nonsense attitude. This background instilled in him an enduring spirit of self-reliance and practicality, which he carried with pride throughout his life. Horace was known for his wide-ranging set of hobbies that reflected his love of the outdoors and craftsmanship. He found great joy in working on cars bringing his mechanical skills and creative flair to every project he undertook. His woodwork was a testament to his craftsmanship His love for gardening provided him with peace, and he often shared the fruits of his labor with family and friends. Passionate about nature, Horace relished the opportunities to hunt and fish. Additionally, his role raising chickens spoke to his commitment to a life rooted in tradition. His enthusiasm extended to attending gun shows, where he connected with fellow enthusiasts and expanded his knowledge of firearms. Horace leaves behind a legacy of hard work, creativity, and a love for the natural world. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Odelion and Rena Cormier; his brothers, Joseph Cormier, and Dean Cormier; his sisters, Beatrice Cormier, Nerline Cormier, Martha Cormier, and Lee Cormier Taquino; and his nephews, Jimmy Dean Cormier, and Danny Cormier.

He is survived by his loving wife, Cinderella Marie Cormier; his children, Horace James Cormier, Jr. and spouse Lee Ann, Donna Marie Cormier, and David Andrew Cormier and spouse Pamela Jo; his grandchildren, Meagan Danielle Cormier, Shauna Marie Cormier, Jessica Marie Potter, Haylee Michelle Adaway, Fallon Renee Trahan, Raven Michelle Childers, and Drake Rudy Davidson Cormier; his great-grandchildren, Aspen Elisabeth Trahan, Ezekiel Cordell Childers; his nieces and nephews, Paul Cormier, Philip Cormier, Michael Cormier, Warren Cormier, Pam Benoit; and numerous other loving family members and friends.

Cremation will be held under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
