Horace Arville Stroud, born August 20, 1944, age, 80, in Beaumont, Texas, passed away on July 11, 2025, at 11:47 p.m., in Hospice care at Stonewood in Orange, Texas. He married Janet Sue Niffen Stroud on October 5, 1963, in Louisiana, Missouri. Horace was a pipeliner for Pentizen Corp for 15 years. He then started his roofing company called Pride Mark Roofing Company that he ran for 20 years or so. Horace then went to work for Kerr Enterprise for 5 years, then Tubal-Caine, and later retired. He enjoyed wood working, especially making cars and trucks. He also made writing pens and desk sets. He loved working with his hands. Horace was a loving and caring family man. He enjoyed spending time with his kids, grandkids, and his amazing wife of 62 years. He was a God-fearing Christian man, who loved God, his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Janet Stroud; children, Marie Stroud Stelly and husband Ronald Stelly, and Stephen Stroud and wife Jerri Stroud; grandchildren, Rebecca Free and husband Dorvel, Alan and Cody Blanchette, OC and Reese Stroud, Danielle and Chris Racz, Ashton, Cody, and Jordan Abshire; great grandchildren, Seth Blanchette, Jessica Free, Zaiden Jackson, Lilly and Levi, and Preston Stroud, Delilah, Nathaniel, and Leo Abshire, Westlynn, Whitlynn, and Layla Abshire, Dalton, Madison, and Kyson Abshire.
He is preceded in death by parents, OC and Lois Stroud; brother, Darwin Stroud; two children, Kevin Stroud, and Cynthia Stroud Blanchette and husband Ed Blanchette.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at Bridge City United Pentecostal Church in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend Martin Ferguson. Burial will follow at Del Rose Cemetery in Vidor.
Visitation will begin prior to the service at 1:00 p.m., at Bridge City United Pentecostal Church in Orange.
Serving as pallbearers will be Chris Racz, OC Stroud, Reese Stroud, De Free, Ron Stelly, and Ashton Abshire. Honorary pallbearers will be Zaiden Jackson and Hunter Sanford.
