Imogene “Jean” Cochran, 94, of Allen, Texas, passed away on July 5, 2021, at her home.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, July 10, 2021, at Gospel Tabernacle, 7880 Washington Blvd. Beaumont. Officiating will be Reverend Nathan Keating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m., July 10, 2021, at Gospel Tabernacle, in Beaumont.
Born in Bronson, Texas, on June 27, 1927, she was the daughter of Walter C. Byley and Willie Mae (Manning) Brewer. Jean was a seamstress, making clothes for her daughters and herself for years. She was meticulous with her crewel (needle point work). Jean made beautiful artwork with it, giving the framed work to her family as gifts. She was very skilled at quilting, giving quilts to her family. Jean also enjoyed knitting baby caps for newborns for the hospitals mainly St. Elizabeth. She loved playing games, her favorite was Hand and Foot. Jean’s favorite pastimes were spending time with her family and friends fishing and playing cards at the Senior Center. She was very loved by her family and will be deeply missed by all that had the pleasure to know her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Byley and Willie Mae Brewer; husband, Victor James Cochran; and sons, Victor James Cochran Jr., and Johnny Cochran.
She is survived by her children, Linda Prevost and husband Ed, of Floresville, TX, Larry Cochran, of Kirbyville, TX, Ida Smith and husband Frank, of Beaumont, TX, Sharron Carmody and husband Doug, of Allen, TX; daughter-in-law, Judy Cochran, of Church Point, LA.; grandchildren, Kevin Prevost, Russell Prevost, Paul Hardy, Keith Cochran, Gina Slusser, Kelle Woods, Tonia Lockard, Vicki Pippin, Laura Gonzales, Lisa Brittain, Christie Hirasaki; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be Keith Cochran, Kevin Prevost, Russell Prevost, Mark Gonzales, Chris Brittain, and Ron Hirasaki. Honorary pallbearer is Doug Carmody.
