Isabel Meza Gonzales, 93, was born November 19, 1918 in Beaumont to Mariano S. & Hesiquia Rodriguez Meza and passed away May 30, 2012 at her residence. Mrs. Gonzales worked from 1943 – 1945 during World War II at Pennsylvania Shipyard in Beaumont as a welder. She then continued working as a welder at Bethlehem Steel in Beaumont from 1967 – 1984, prior to retiring.
A gathering of friends and family will take place at Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home Friday, June 1 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM with a rosary beginning at 6:00 PM. A mass of Christian burial will be Saturday, at 10:00 AM at Cristo Rey Catholic Church, 767 Avenue A, Beaumont with interment following at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont.
Mrs. Gonzales is survived by her son, Edward Gonzales III and his significant other, Mitzi J. Altersberger; daughter, Vivian M. Gore; granddaughter, Teresa Gore; sister, Carmen M. O'Shea; nieces, Kathryn Hernandez-Roeder, Dolores O'Shea, Patricia O'Shea Hardy, and Denise O'Shea Guerrero; nephews, Jerry O'Shea and Alan O'Shea; 5 great nieces, 1 great-great niece and 1 great-great nephew She is preceded in death by her husband, Edward Gonzales Jr.; her parents; brothers, Augustine, Marion, Julian, Cecilio and Pedro Meza; sisters, Juanita R. Hernandez and Mariana Meza.
