J.D. Longlois
J.D. Longlois, 76, of Orange, passed away on July 12, 2017, in Burkeville, Texas.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 15, 2017, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend Cliff Schadler of Toledo Baptist Church in Burkeville. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange.
Visitation will precede the service, starting at 1:00 p.m.
Born in Flora, Louisiana, on September 21, 1940, he was the son of Walker Longlois and Willie Mae (Custis) Longlois. J.D. was a maintenance technician for DuPont, and he served in the United States Army. He was a member of Toledo Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and sang in the choir. He was a former member and deacon of First Baptist Church in Orange. He taught Vacation Bible School to third and fourth graders in Toledo for many years. He believed in Vacation Bible School because he became a Christian in Vacation Bible School in West Orange. He also carried many youth on mission trips and Hot Hearts, and taught Sunday school. He was a board member of East Texas Baptist Encampment in Newton. He volunteered as a fireman for the Toledo Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed fishing with his family, and as a hobby, he made fishing rods. He was loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Emma Ann Longlois of Orange; children, William Keith Longlois and wife, Cynthia, of Orange, and Jeffery Dwayne Longlois and wife, Patricia, of Orange; four grandchildren, Jessica Rose Longlois, Julianne Danielle Longlois, Chrisleigh Nicole Longlois, and Jacob Dylan Longlois; “adopted” grandchildren, Megan Peveto, Edmon Willette, Christa Kay Pickett, and Kenneth Pickett; and sister, Bobby Joe Talbert-Couthran and her children, Cindy Groner and husband Richard, and Tim Talbert and wife Angela.
Serving as pallbearers will be William Keith Longlois, Jeffery Dwayne Longlois, Tim Talbert, Edmon Willette, Kenneth Pickett, and Clint Denman. Honorary pallbearers are Jacob Dylan Longlois, Alvin Helm, Jr., Deacons of Toledo Baptist Church, and Toledo Volunteer Fire Department.
