Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City.

Born in Port Arthur, Texas, on August 17, 1950, he was the son of Jack Walker Etheredge, Sr. and Eva (Blackwell) Etheredge. Jack served his country in the National Guard and worked many years as an operator for Total. Jack enjoyed spending time on the golf course, watching westerns-especially Gun Smoke and anything with John Wayne, reading, and going to see blues music played live. He loved the beach and would spend as much time as he could at their family beach house in Crystal Beach. Jack was a very adventurous, outgoing man with a great sense of humor as well as being affectionate and always there for the good hugs. He had an infectious laugh, the gift of gab, never met a stranger, and was known to be the life of the party. He was a true family man who adored his grandchildren. He loved to take them to breakfast, coach their little league teams, and never missed one of his children’s or grandchildren’s games. Jack loved life and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Life will be a little less bright without his shining smile.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Eva Etheredge.

He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Charlotte Ellia (Cunningham) Etheredge; daughters, Niki Renee’ Ford and husband Chris, of Buda and Brittany Starr Sauer, of Mauriceville; grandchildren, Peyton Ford, Jaxon Sauer, Sydnee Sauer, Cason Ford, and his bonus grandson, Bryden Richardson; siblings, Chalma Blackwell and husband Mike, Angie Burleigh and husband Kenny, and Vicki Etheredge; along with numerous other loving family and friends.

Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Blackwell, John Blackwell, John Metoyer, Charlie Fontenot, Darin Cricchio, Chris Ford, Jake Sauer, and Buddy Cunningham. Honorary pallbearers are Scott Cunningham, Ernest Vincent, Glenn Garcia, Charlie Wells, Scott Nunley, Mike Metoyer, Brian Metoyer, Doc Segura, Josh Richardson, Harvey Blankenship, Mike Barnett, Dick Jordan, and Marcus Broussard.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Glioblastoma Foundation at P.O. Box 62066, Durham, NC 27715 or at glioblastomafoundation.org.

Heaven truly gained an angel. It is heartbreaking to lose a friend & mentor. It is even more heartbreaking to know one of your best friends & family are grieving & in pain from the loss of their father & husband. There are many things in life that are uncertain. But one thing that is NOT uncertain & NO one could question, is how much Mr. Etheredge LOVED his family! Mr. Etheredge has given so much of himself & etched wonderful memories in my heart. These memories are more valuable than any earthly possession. I remember his encouragement, his coaching, his jokes, his affection for family & friends, his kind heartedness, his smile & laugh. I am thankful & proud to be able to call him my friend. Until we meet again, he will be missed but remembered for ALL the love he had to share. Heaven truly gained an angel. Sending comfort & prayers to the Etheredge family.

Jack was a wonderful Man! Loved his wife and girls more than life itself! Always made you feel at home when you visited at their beach house! Making sure everyone was taken care of with food to eat and having a good time. Loved all his girl’s friends. Adored them grandbabies and spent as much time with them as possible, would even babysit when needed. All in all Jack was a super Guy who loved life and everyone he met! He will be truly missed by many of us.:heart::kissing_heart::kissing_heart:
