Jack Clayton Hardey

Jack Clayton Hardey, 87, of Orange, died Saturday, March 12, 2011, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend Keith Royal, pastor of Winfree Baptist Church in Orange. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens near Bridge City.
Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Jack was born on September 1, 1923, in Orangefield, Texas. He was the son of Hattie Cain Hardey and Augustus Gus Hardey. He was a WWII veteran and retired from DuPont Sabine River Works in Orange after 37 years of service.
He was a devoted member of the Merry Mixers square dance club for over 20 years. He was also a member of Winfree Baptist Church for many years. He enjoyed serving as a Red Cross volunteer at the Orange Baptist Hospital and made many friends there. He greatly enjoyed his many trips through the years to Branson, Missouri with his beloved wife, Pat.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Patricia Beatrice Hardey; daughter, Patricia Elaine Hardey; and brother, Harry Hardey.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Ava Joy Wood and husband, Thurl of Sam Rayburn; son, Clayton Pete Hardey and wife, Kathleen of Orange; four grandchildren, Brandon Wood and wife, Kim, Natalie Poe and husband, James, Shalain Marze and husband, Kelly, and Jason Hardey; five great-grandchildren, Mikayla and Luke Wood, Maverick Poe, and Macoy and Payton Marze; sister, Lela Franklin and husband Sherril of Onalaska; brother-in-law, Tom Sargent of New Iberia, Louisiana; and sister-in-law, Margie Sargent of Orange.
Serving as Pallbearers are Brandon Wood, Jason Hardey, Kelly Marze, and Wayne McClelland.
Honorary Pallbearers are O.J. Jackson and David O?Neal.
We would like to extend a special thank you to Jack?s caregivers, Mabel and Randi Walker. Jack loved visiting with his family and friends, and was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Pat. We know that he is experiencing a joyful reunion with her now!
