Jackie Thompson was born on March 31, 1932, to Phil and Olga Stephens in Sulphur Springs, TX. She passed away peacefully at her home, Tuesday, February 24, 2009, with her family by her side after a lengthy illness. Jackie finished high school in 1949 at Lutcher Stark High School and was a member of the Bengal Guards. In 1950, she married her husband of 58 years, H. Dale Thompson.
She is also survived by son, Hammon D. Thompson and wife Glenda; son, Stephen W. Thompson and wife Cynthia; daughter, Cyndi Tindel and husband Jack; and five grandchildren, Wesley, Lacy, Kimberly, and Taylor Thompson and Jack H. Tindel III. She also leaves her twin sister, Gerry Frensley and husband Bob of Kemp, TX; her brother-in-law, Fred J Thompson and wife Darleen; sister-in-law, Darlene Thompson and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jackie was a member of the First Baptist Church in Orange since 1961 and was employed by Sears for 15 years. She was also an avid bridge player.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2009, in the Claybar Funeral Home Chapel at 10:00 A.M. with Reverend Barry Bradley of the First Baptist Church of Orange officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be at Claybar Funeral Home on Friday, February 27, 2009, from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M.
Pallbearers will be James Pledger, Phil Grooms, Bennie Bates, Carlo Morris, Dr. Kenny Underriner, and Reverend Ray Anderson. Honorary pallbearers will be Mr. Jack Taylor, Lloyd Sittig, Jim Dawes and Phil Honeycutt.
