Jacob Phillip Martin, 76, of Bridge City, Texas, passed away on June 22, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 1, 2024, at Eastgate United Pentecostal Church in Vidor, Texas. Officiating will be his son, Reverend Darrell Martin. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Garden in Orange.
Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m., Monday, July 1, 2024, at Eastgate United Pentecostal Church in Vidor.
Born in Orange, Texas, on September 16, 1947, he was the son of Alma Lacaze Martin. Jacob bravely served his country with honor as a member of the United States Army. Professionally, he worked as an industrial estimator, where his meticulous attention to detail and strong work ethic earned him the respect of colleagues and clients alike.
Jacob's life was filled with a passion for various interests that brought him joy and fulfillment. He was an avid fisherman who found solace in the quiet moments spent by the water's edge. His skill as a poet allowed him to express his deepest emotions and connect with others in profound ways. His dedication to documenting his thoughts and experiences through journaling captured the essence of his wisdom and insight. One of his greatest joys was crabbing with his beloved grandchildren, who affectionately referred to him as "PawPaw."
Known for his culinary skills, Jacob enjoyed cooking and grilling delicious meals for his family and friends. Above all else, Jacob's faith was the cornerstone of his life, evident through his love of ministry and his active involvement in Bridge City United Pentecostal Church, Burkeville United Pentecostal Church, and Orangefield United Pentecostal Church. In his later years, he faithfully attended Eastgate United Pentecostal Church. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Alma Martin; and his siblings, Ida Mae Granger, Clifford Martin, Clayton Martin, Vera Peveto, Martha Sue Doyle, and Mildred Glidewell.
He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Susan Martin; his sons, Jason Martin and wife, Courtney of Bridge City, Darrell Martin of Kansas, and Ryan Martin and wife, Marisa of Vidor; his daughter, Jaqueline Lashbrook and husband, Jonathan of Bridge City; his grandchildren, Cameron Martin, Makenzie Martin, Kaleb Martin, Emma Martin, Olivia Lashbrook, Jase Lashbrook, Mia Martin, Annalise Lashbrook, Macy Martin, and Mindy Martin; his sisters, Laverne Drake of Sulphur, LA., and Avis Moore and husband, Donald of Orange; his brother, Wayne Martin and wife, Peggy of Bridge City; and numerous other loving nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jonathan Lashbrook, Cameron Martin, Kaleb Martin, Jase Lashbrook, Steve Martin, Ben Moore, Vernon Yellott, Westley Dorman, and Chris Slaughter.
