James Barnett

December 29, 1923 — September 10, 2009

James R. Barnett, 85, of Orange, died Thursday, September 10, 2009, at his residence.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 13, 2009, at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend Kevin Kissel, pastor of Faith United Methodist Church in Orange.
Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens near Bridge City with Masonic Rites under the auspices of Madison Lodge 126 AF&AM.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Born in Equality, Illinois on December 29, 1923, Mr. Barnett was the son of Annie and Matt Barnett.
He retired from DuPont Sabine River Works where he was an operator and he was a U.S. Navy veteran of WW II.
Mr. Barnett was a member and Past Master of the Masonic Lodge #251 in Milam; a 32nd Degree Mason; a member of the Scottish Rite and a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Orange.
Preceded in death by his parents, Annie and Matt Barnett; brothers, Pat and John Barnett and sister, Golda Bell, Mr. Barnett is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Barnett of Orange; daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Don Hale of Orange; grandchildren, Leslie Burch and her husband, Mark, Kelly Gilliam and her husband, Garrett, Brandon Hale; great grandchildren, Lacey and Marleigh Burch and Gavin and Danica Gilliam.
Also surviving are his brothers, Steve Dugaro and Tony Dugaro, both of Eldorado, Illinois and sister, Jo Ella Ballinger of Detroit, Michigan.
The family wishes to acknowledge, with grateful appreciation, the care given Mr. Barnett by Texas Home Health Hospice.
