James C. Beard, Sr., 84, of Bridge City, Texas, passed away on April 11, 2019, in Orange, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, April 14, 2019, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City. Officiating will be Reverend Bob Boone.
Visitation will be held prior to the funeral service, beginning at 1:00 p.m., at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 16, 2019, at Gonzales Memorial Park Cemetery in Gonzales, Texas. Officiating will be Reverend David Hampton.
Born in Iowa, Louisiana, on July 20, 1934, he was the son of Horace Joseph Beard and Amy Marie (Broussard) Beard. James proudly served his country in the United States Army. He then went on to work as a laboratory supervisor for Texaco. James was a member of First Baptist Church of Bridge City. He loved to dance and was excellent at it. James will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Horace and Amy Beard; and his beloved wife, Janet Beard.
He is survived by his son, James Beard, Jr., and wife Kevin of Manchaca; his grandchildren, Travis Duran of Manchaca and Shelby Oakley and husband Robert of San Antonio; and his siblings, Brenda Patnaude of Bridge City, Judy Cooke and husband Donald of Lake Charles, and Connie McGill and husband Mike of Orangefield.

I worked with Jimmy at Jefferson Chemical and he was truly a great friend and co worker. I will never forget the love that he and Janet shared and how kind and giving he was to everyone. God Bless you Jim.

Jim was always a good friend but it was impossible to be with him without a smile on your face. He was a kind. thoughtful, and caring person and will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Rest in peace and enjoy the company of Janet once more
