James Eric Bingham, 76, of Orange, passed away on October 12, 2018, in Vidor, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 16, 2018, at Calvary Baptist Church in West Orange. Officiating will be Reverend David Millner of Calvary Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Orange Forest Lawn in Orange.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, October 15, 2018, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Born in Orange, Texas, on February 1, 1942, James was the son of James Riley Bingham and Mertie Gladys (Bean) Bingham. James was a charter member and faithful servant of Calvary Baptist Church, where he was also a devoted member of the “Here to Eternity” Sunday school class. He was a loyal and proud employee of Firestone of Orange, and retired after 43 years of service as an A-Operator. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and loved to fix things and garden. As a teenager, he was instrumental in starting the West Orange Volunteer Fire Department and he was an active volunteer for many years. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and church members.
James was preceded in death by parents, James and Mertie Bingham; his son, Mark Bingham; and his sister, Betty Grandon.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Bobbie Jean (Taylor) Bingham; his two sons, Eric Bingham and wife Lanie of Lumberton, and Anthony Bingham and wife Jennifer of Orange; his grandchildren, Kelly Gathings and husband Dylan of Fort Worth, Rachel Bingham of Austin, Tyler Bingham of Orange, Megan Smith of Orange, and Hunter Smith of Orange; and his sister, Jimmie Lou James and husband J.B. of West Orange.
