It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of James Clayton “Jim” Brown, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, who left this world August 13, 2024, at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Monday, August 19, 2024, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange, with burial following at Bland Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Sunday, August 18, 2024 at the funeral home.
Born on October 21, 1953, in his hometown of Orange, Texas, Jim was a dedicated cable repairman for Southwestern Bell for an impressive 29 years. Described as a simple yet extraordinary man, Jim's life was characterized by his unwavering love for his family, particularly his grandchildren who called him “Pop”. His kind and selfless nature touched the hearts of all who knew him. Jim was known for his problem-solving abilities, sharing his knowledge with others, and his love for history, especially World War II.
Outside of work, Jim pursued various interests with gusto. He had a green thumb and took great pleasure in gardening. He found joy in watching sports, spending time outdoors, and working with his hands. A true animal lover, Jim had a habit of rescuing animals in need. Additionally, he had a keen interest in collecting items that held significance to him.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Janet Brown, and their children, Chris Wolfford and wife Jenny, Eddie Wolfford and wife Alecia, and Misti Giarratano and husband Frank. He will be deeply missed by his grandchildren, Cryslynn Wolfford, Terry Sherman Jr. and wife Bethany, Tyler Wolfford, Reagan Wolfford, Blaze Wolfford, Kinley Wolfford, and Frank Clayton Giarratano. Jim was also a cherished great-grandfather to Barrett Williams, Brightyn Williams, Briley Williams, Berkley Williams, Everleigh Sherman, Hudson Sherman, and Brantley Sherman.
He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and other beloved family members and friends who will forever hold him in their hearts. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his brother, Gil Brown; sister, Becky Brown; and sister-in-law, Diana Virva.
Serving as pallbearers will be Chris Wolfford, Eddie Wolfford, Frank Giarratano, Blaze Wolfford, Terry Sherman, Jr., and Tyler Wolfford. Honorary pallbearers are Frank Clayton Giarratano and Barrett Williams.
The family would like to thank the staff of Harbor Hospice for their care and kindness during his final days.
