James W. Cook, 63, was born March 28, 1950 in Beaumont, TX to Joseph Cook Sr. and Margaret Owens Cook and passed away July 21, 2013 in Beaumont. He was a long-time resident of the Beaumont area before moving to Baytown. James was a US Marine Corps veteran, serving in Okinawa during the Vietnam War era. He was employed as a pipefitter for many years, working out of Pipefitters Local 195 and with Austin Industrial Company.
A celebration of life will take place at 7:00 PM Thursday, July 25 at Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home. A gathering of friends and family will be from 5:00 PM until the 7:00 PM service. Southeast Texas Veterans Service Group will render honors during the service.
Mr. Cook is survived by his daughters, Lisa Trahan and her husband, Chris and also Amy Simer; his father, Joseph C. Cook Sr.; grandsons, Rett Hooks, Chris and James Simer; special grandchildren, Caleb, Eli, Isaac and Jacob Carter, Noah McGee, Layla, Kyler and Jasmine Ainsworth, Emily Trahan and Austin Hooks; brothers, Joseph C. Cook Jr., John R. Cook, William E. Cook and Haley D. Cook and his sister, Mary M. Riddle and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Owens Cook.
