Memorial services for James Edward Baker, Sr., 73, of Lumberton, will be held Saturday, December 6, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. in the Claybar Kelley-Watkins Chapel with nephew, Dr. Billy Graff, officiating.
James was born August 29, 1935, in Port Arthur, Texas to Callen William and Ruth Antonio Almond Baker and died December 2, 2008 in Beaumont. A resident of Lumberton for 10 years, he was a former resident of El Paso and was a retired salesman for International Trucks in El Paso and was named International Salesman of the Year.
A genuine character, James was a pilot who loved to fly and crash- planes, airboats, motorcycles, and lawnmowers.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruthie; son, James Edward Baker, Jr.; and sister, Billie Miller. Survivors include his son's mother, Sue Baker of Lumberton; brother, Jack Baker and wife Pat of Kirbyville; sister, Scooter Graff of Lumberton; brother-in-law, Richard Miller of Bridge City and numerous nieces and nephews.
