James Neil Campbell

James Neil Campbell joined our heavenly Father on Monday, August 06, 2007.
Graveside service will be 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 8, 2007, at Oak Lawn Memorial Park in Center, TX.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Tuesday at Claybar Funeral Home Funeral Home in Orange and 1:00-2:45 p.m., Wednesday at Watson Funeral Home in Center.
Born May 3, 1932, James grew up in Shelbyville, TX where he attended high school and met his wife of 51 years, Mary Helen Boles Campbell.
An outstanding athlete in high school, he later attended Stephen F. Austin University. Upon graduation from SFA, James was commissioned an officer in the U.S. Marine Corps. Following his military discharge, he and his wife Mary Helen,
moved to Orange, wherethey raised their beloved daughter, Cheryl Renee. James taught and coached at Bridge City High School before joining Goodrich/Bayer Corporation where he retired in 1995. A longtime member of Sunset Grove Country Club, he leaves many lifelong friends and golf partners and will continue to watch the ?Raiders? from above during their weekly game.
An avid gardener, James Neil was a kind and generous man. His strength of character and respect for all people is the legacy he leaves for his family to carry forward. A loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He will be missed every day and never forgotten.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Helen; father, R.W. Campbell of Shelbyville; sister and brother in law, Margie and Trevor Doggett of Shelbyville; daughter and son in law, Cheryl Renee and Alan Colyer of Houston; granddaughter, Alexandra Colyer of Waco; grandson, Campbell Colyer of Houston; and many more relatives and friends in Center, Shebyville and Orange.
