James Weldon Trahan, 77, of Orange, Texas, passed away on December 15, 2024, in Beaumont.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 27, 2024, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Visitation will take place prior to the service, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m., at the same location. Cremation will follow under the care of Claybar Funeral Home.

James was born on April 4, 1947, in Crowley, Louisiana, to Jack Weston Trahan and Elmire Marie Hardy. In his youth, James was a gifted athlete, excelling in track at Vidor High School, where he set remarkable records in the mile and half-mile events. His passion for running was matched only by his love for good food, great company, and the vibrant traditions of his Cajun heritage. Crawfish boils, cold beer, and beach days were among his favorite pastimes, and his zest for life was infectious to those around him

James had a larger-than-life personality. He was known for being loud, stubborn, and always ready to crack a joke or pick on those he loved. He was a self-proclaimed flirt who found joy in teasing his twin brother, Joseph, and creating laughter wherever he went. His family fondly remembers him as a loving father and grandfather who cherished time spent with his daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Above all, James’s life was defined by his unwavering connection to his family and roots. His playful spirit, love of tradition, and ability to bring people together leave a lasting legacy that will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

James is preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Elmire Trahan, and his sister, Ginger Rigby.

He is survived by his daughters, Molly Dennis and husband Greg, and Linda Kondziela and husband James; his grandchildren, Justyn, Kindall, Cole, Marley, and Carly; his great-grandchildren, Tucker, Josie, Lyla, Haelynn, and Miles; his twin brother, Joseph Beldon; his brothers, Jack Trahan and Irby Hardy; and many other loving family members and friends.

Cremation will be held under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
