I met Jan at Hatton Elementary school. What I remember most about Jan is her beautiful smile and infectious laugh. She had a way of making others laugh with her dry humor without even trying. Jan was very sweet and kind, always. My sincerest condolences to her family. Peggy Young Ealand

Eddie Deason introduced me to Jan in the 90s when she had her flower shop. Jan and I became fast friends and I was blessed to be able to hang out with her after school. Flowers etc was her business but to me it was my happy place. We had lots of laughs there. A special gift she gave to me was sharing her love of flowers. She taught me to love flowers and how to make a flower arrangement. Of course, mine never looked like hers so after a lot of whining on my part, she would reach over, shake them around and put her magic touch on them, making it beautiful. She also helped chaperone a lot Spanish club events with me, including taking them to State convention in San Antonio. She made everything so much fun and my students loved her. I doubt she had ever eaten at Mexican food restaurants as much as we did with the Spanish club. Jan was the kindest and most generous person. She was always providing someone with money, clothes, food and shelter. Everyone knew that they could count on her to be there in times of need. I don’t think I have ever known a more giving, kind-hearted person. I know she will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. Every daisy will remind me of Daisy. Our condolences to her family. Larry, you are in our thoughts and prayers.

My first memories of friendship with Jan were just a few sixty plus years ago while in First Grade at Hatton Elementary in Bridge City. We continued countless years of true friendship. We cheered together as young girls for her dad’s business, Hubbard Electric, sponsored youth league football teams for several years, and moved into the stands years later as parents cheering on our own children at BCHS. Jan took much pride in her success as a local business owner of “Flowers, Etc.”, in BC for many years. Her customers loved her work! By far, I know Jan’s happiest heart moments were when her grandsons were born. She was very proud of all of them. She loved being Grandma! Jan was the kindest, most-giving and most loyal friend a person could be blessed with. Prayers for peace and comfort to Larry, Clayton and the entire family. Rest in peace, my friend! I've known Jan Hubbard Eland my entire life. We grew up together on Martin Ave. Her father, the late CW "Bubba" Hubbard, was a pillar of our community. And her mother, D, brothers, Lon and Jeffrey were all a huge part of my life growing up in BC. Jan was the kindest, most generous person who opened her heart to everyone she came to know. Giving, loyal, friendly, sweet .......always made the other person feel important and special are just a few of the traits she possessed! She was compassionate and the kind of friend you couldn't wait to share your happiness and excitement with because she would rejoice with you, but also the first person you wanted to talk to when you were sad or disappointed because she always knew what to say to support you or maybe she would just cry with you! She had an infectious smile and laugh and was a little bit timid, but by your side through thick and thin. She was the kind of friend everyone needs at least one of.....and she leaves this world a little more empty because her heart of love and unselfish ways aren't found everywhere. I love the saying, "Old friends take a long time to grow......." I'll think of her and our 65 year friendship and how special she was, forever. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. To her husband, Larry, and her son, Clayton, you were blessed to have her. Prayers for your hearts as you go through this loss! Love you Jan. "You fought the good fight, you finished the race......you kept the faith!"
