Jane Thompson Brown, 89, a former resident of Orange, died Sunday, April 3, 2011, at Colonial Oaks Assisted Living Center in Sugar Land.
The family will receive friends for visitation from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 7, 2011, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. A graveside service will follow at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, April 7, 2011, at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens near Bridge City. Officiating will be Reverend Robert G. Campbell, the retired pastor from Westbury Baptist Church in Houston.
Born in Orange on September 23, 1921, Mrs. Brown was the daughter of Ed and Virgie Watson Thompson. She and her husband were long time members of First Baptist Church in Orange where he served as deacon and together they served in different ministries of the church.
Mr. and Mrs. Brown had an interest in collecting Carnival Glass and enjoyed participating in various activities associated with their hobby. She and a group of her friends in Orange were members of a birthday club and enjoyed the friendship this group provided.
Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Virgie Thompson and her husband, Robert G. Brown. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Suzanne Brown of Knoxville, Tennessee, Paul and Becky Brown of Houston, Jim and Nancy Brown of Spring; grandchildren, Heather McCurry and her husband Chris of Knoxville, Tennessee, Chris Brown and his wife Suzanne of Sevierville, Tennessee, Kevin Brown of Atlanta, Georgia, Angela Hallmark of Houston, Brian Brown of Spring, Belinda Covey and her husband Steven of Spring.
Also surviving are her great grandchildren, Shelby and Sydney McCurry, Kira and Paul Brown, Stephen and Abigail Hallmark, Ava and Steven Covey; and her brother, E.D. Thompson, Jr.
