Jeleta Head Miles

Jeleta Head Miles, 84, of Orange, Texas, passed away on May 6, 2019, in Beaumont, Texas.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 10, 2019, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Minister Paul Masters. Burial will follow the service at Jett Cemetery in Orange.

Visitation will be from 3:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

Born in Orange, Texas, on July 28, 1934, she was the daughter of Vertice Head and Edna Mae Peet Head. Jeleta was a member of West Orange Church of Christ. She enjoyed cooking for others, ceramics, and working in her yard. She loved her family dearly and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Vertice and Edna; husband, George Dewey Miles; and her sister, Verlene Hammett.

Jeleta is survived by her children, Helen Ruth Miles, of Tucson, AZ, Jo Leta Armstrong and husband Lyndon, of Vidor, TX, Carolyn Denise Miles, of Bastrop, TX, Robert Dale Miles, of Scott, LA, Walter Nelson Miles, of Virginia Beach, VA, Cindy LaRue Tice and husband Darren, of Round Rock, TX, and Sheila Carole Barnes and husband David, of Nederland, TX; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; and brother, Vertice Lynn Head, of West Orange, TX.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jalon Barnes, Darryl Totino, Lyndon Armstrong, David Barnes, Darren Tice, and Walter Miles. Honorary pallbearers are Mike Bilbo and Bill Cude.
