Jennie Huskey Mills
March 29, 1932 – January 20, 2017
Jennie Mae Huskey Mills passed away on January 20, 2017. She was born in Ravensford, NC, and was preceded in death by her husband Harold Wayne Mills in 1994, and her parents William Anderson and Verna B. Huskey.
Jennie graduated from Bethel High School, Canton, NC, and from Crandall Business School in Macon, GA. She worked for Dayco International in Waynesville, NC, and Champion Paper & Fiber Co., in Canton, NC. She was an active member and faithfully sang in the choir at Little Cypress Baptist Church in Orange, TX, until her health prevented her from attending. She enjoyed playing tennis, traveling, and was a Red Cross volunteer. Jennie was also talented in needlecraft, and made many beautiful pieces, including a quilt that will be displayed at her memorial service.
Surviving are her son Tony Mills (Fang-Ling Chen) of Katy, TX, a daughter, Susan Mills Podrebarac (Gary) of Friendswood, TX; two grandchildren, Kate and Paul Podrebarac, who brought her great joy; siblings Rubye Harkins, Bill Huskey (Louise) of Canton, NC, Emma Sue Mashburn (J.L) of Candler, NC, and Darrel Huskey (Vickie) of Concord, NC.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Monday, January 23, 2017, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 26, 2017, at Wells Funeral Home in Waynesville, North Carolina. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Cemetery in Waynesville, North Carolina.
Prior to services, a visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m., at Wells Funeral Home in Waynesville, North Carolina.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Little Cypress Baptist Church at 3274 Little Cypress Dr., Orange, TX 77632.
