Jerri Walker Rogers, a devoted servant of her faith, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2024, in Beaumont, Texas. Born on February 11, 1943, she lived a life marked by profound dedication to her family, her church, and her cherished Christian values.

For over four decades, Jerri served as the Church Secretary and as Senior Pastor Secretary at Community Church in Orange. She was actively involved in youth ministries, where she contributed her time and energy to numerous mission trips and youth activities, inspiring countless young lives. In her later years she enjoyed worship and fellowship at Restoration Church of Orange.

Jerri was not only a dedicated church member but also an influential figure in the lives of those she loved. She was a proud graduate of Stark High and Lamar State College. Those who knew her remember her as a devout Christian who prayed continuously for her family and friends, embodying a true servant's heart. She had an unwavering love for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, which guided her actions and relationships throughout her life.

In her personal life, Jerri brought joy to many with her delightful creations, famously making the best sugar cookies that became a staple at family gatherings. Her warmth and kindness were reflected in every aspect of her life. For many years she enjoyed attending W-OS football games with her husband Larry.

Jerri’s family was the center of her universe. She deeply loved her family and became affectionately known as Beanie to her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and numerous friends. She is survived by her daughter Laurie Hyman and husband Rick of Orange, TX, her daughter Amy Tritch and husband Tim of Dallas, TX, and her son Jim Rogers and wife Laura of Natchitoches, LA. Jerri was a special and dear friend and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. When Lovell passed and I moved away from Orange it was Jerri who insisted on keeping flowers on his grave. Only a special friend would do that. Say hello to Lovell when you see him.

Jerri will be remembered by so many people whose lives she touched. She served in the perfect position as church secretary because she always had a ready smile, a pleasant personality and a willingness to help anyone who came by. Not only was she a friend, but she was also a big help to me personally as a teacher at CCS. Whenever we think of Community Church, Jerri will be always be a wonderful memory for us. Our prayers are with her family as they walk through this difficult time.

With heavy hearts, we, the family of Restoration Church, pause to honor the legacy of one of our dearest founders, Jerri Rodgers. Words seem so inadequate to capture the profound impact she had, not only on our church, but on each one of us who had the privilege of knowing her. Jerri wasn’t just a cornerstone in the establishment of Restoration Church—she was its heartbeat. From the moment she helped name our church, she infused it with a sense of purpose, hope, and unwavering love. Her presence filled every room she entered, not just with her laughter, but with her dedication to making sure our mission was always grounded in faith, compassion, and service. She was a guiding force behind every church business meeting, making sure our foundation stayed strong and that we always stayed the course. Yet, it was her small, tender acts—like the way she would show up with a batch of her famous cookies just when you needed cheering up—that truly made her irreplaceable. In her quiet way, she reminded us that church is more than a building; it’s a community of love, and she embodied that love every single day. The heart of Restoration Church will never quite be the same without Jerri. Her laughter, her wisdom, her kindness, her cookies—they leave a void that will be impossible to fill. But as we grieve, we also celebrate the gift she was to each of us. Her legacy will continue in the very walls of this church, in the friendships she fostered, and in the love that she poured into this community. We will miss you, Jerri, more than words can say, but we know that your spirit lives on in the heart of this church. Until we meet again, rest in peace, dear friend.

For the many years I knew Jerri at Community Church, I knew that if I needed anything for teaching classes, Jerri was the one to call. Always kind, efficient, fun to talk and laugh with, she was indeed, the behind the scenes "go to" for everything. I loved her dearly. Condolences to the whole family.
