Jerry Lee Bowden, 75, of Orange, Texas, passed away on November 5, 2022, in Houston, Texas.
A Mass of a Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 14, 2022, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Port Neches, Texas. Officiating will be Reverend JC Coon. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange, Texas.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, November 13, 2022, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange, Texas.
Born in Ashland, Mississippi, on July 27, 1947, he was the son of James Bowden and Eunice Bowden. Jerry Bowden was a devoted catholic man who revolved his life around his family, his church, and his job. He spent 55 years as a policeman at locations including Newton County, Port Neches, Louisiana State Police, and served as the Chief of Police in Lexington. Jerry was married to Diane for 39 years and was head-over-heels, hopelessly in love with her. In his free time, he loved spending time with his beloved Diane, finding new recipes to cook, watching reality T.V., and reading lots of poetry. Jerry was an intelligent man, who taught criminal justice at Lamar University in between his retirements as a policeman. Jerry loved his children and grandchildren, they could do no wrong in his eyes. He was loyal to his family and friends and will be remembered fondly by everyone who was able to meet him.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, James and Eunice Bowden; and his grandparents Ralph and Leona Bowden.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Diane Bowden of Orange, Texas; his children, Ashley Aron and husband Daniel of Lake Charles, Louisiana, and Brandon Thomas of Lake Charles, Louisiana; his grandchildren, Dean Thomas, Brantley Thomas, Camden Aron, and John-Luke Aron.; his sister, Jeanie Youman; his brother-in-law, Adam Bearden and wife Adrianna; and a large number of loving family and friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jake Aron, Brandon Thomas, Steve Hopsin, Danny Buchholz, and Adam Bearden.
