Jerry L. Kennon, 87, of Brookeland, passed away on November 4, 2021, in Brookeland.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, November 12, 2021, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend Ed Rawls of Silver Oaks Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange.
Visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m., Friday, November 12, 2021, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Jerry was born in Silver City, New Mexico, on August 8, 1934 to Bascemp Forehand Kennon and Nell Frances Stoddard Kennon. Jerry and his wife, Mary Ann were very involved in missionary work through the Christian Builders and various Baptist Encampments where they volunteered during youth camps. He was a collector of coins and baseball cards and was proud of his assortment. Jerry retired from the City of Orange Police Department as a Captain where he worked the graveyard shift for many years. Following his retirement, Jerry began working for the Nelda C. and H.J. Lutcher Stark Foundation and was head of the security department. Jerry adored his family more than anything and left a lasting impact on many lives. He will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bascemp and Nell Kennon; and siblings, Ruby Obray and Robert Kennon.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Mary Ann Kennon of Brookeland; children, Kimmie Kennon Brown and husband Ron of Brookeland and Jerry L. Kennon, Jr. of Lumberton; grandchildren, Michael Sullivan and wife Brittany, Ashleigh Davis, Katie Sullivan, Camryn Kennon and wife Catherine, and Zackary Kennon; great grandchildren, Grace Sullivan and husband Aaron, Hannah Sullivan and fiancé, Shelby, Kiley Nichols, Emily Sullivan, Hayden Nichols, Peyton Nichols, Samson Runge, and Clover Kennon; great-great grandchild, Charlotte Sullivan; and siblings, Jack Kennon, Anna Samples and Mary Herring.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jerry Kennon, Jr., Michael Sullivan, Zackary Kennon, Ron Brown, Aaron Sullivan and Shelby Boudreaux.
