Jesse Lee (Pates) Turner Jr.

December 24, 1932 — February 20, 2014

Jesse Lee (J.L., Pates) Turner, Jr, a resident of Sour Lake, TX died Thursday, February 20, 2014 in the VA Hospital, Houston, TX, from complications of a broken hip.
He is survived by his sister, Ruby Lee Turner Ott of Beaumont; nieces, Linda Ott Reed, and her husband Ron, of Grapeland, TX, Charlotte Ott Hare and husband Rick, of Humble, TX; great nieces Rebecca Stewart Jones and husband, Devin, of Silsbee, TX, Maranda Mercer of Houston, TX; great-great nephew Jadon Charles Jones of Silsbee, TX; sister-in-law Wanda Turner of Floresville, TX and numerous friends that are extended family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Lee Turner, Sr. and Octavia Chessher Turner; a brother, J. C. Turner and brother-in-law, John Ott.
Jesse graduated from Sour Lake High School in 1952 and immediately joined the U. S. Army, serving in Germany from 1953-1955, advancing to the rank of Sergeant. Upon arriving home, he went to work for Oil City Brass and continued his career there until the company closed.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved his time in the woods.
He is loved by so many people and will be missed, leaving a big void in their lives.
There will be a Memorial Service Saturday, March 8, 2014 beginning at noon at Ronnie Johnson’s Barn, 845 Nevada, Sour Lake, TX, next to the Rosedale Cemetery along with food and fellowship. No suits allowed!
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 6977 Main St., Houston, TX 77030-3701 in Jess’s name or a charity of your choice.
