Born on July 19, 1928, she was the daughter of Howard O’Quinn and Ollie O’Quinn. Jimmie lived a long and beautiful life dedicated to her family, friends, and her beloved church. She was affectionately known as "LuLu" to her grandchildren. As a trained florist, Jimmie's creative spirit showed in many ways beyond her floral work. She had a passion for cooking and was particularly known for her gumbo, cornbread dressing, and potato salad. Jimmie was a skilled seamstress and enjoyed making clothes for her children and their friends. Gardening was another favorite pursuit, allowing her to nurture the beauty of nature alongside her family. She had the heart of a servant and was a role model to all as a prayer warrior with the women in her prayer group. Jimmie's love for her church family was evident through her long-time commitment to the First United Pentecostal Church, where she was a member for 75 years. She served many years as a Ladies Auxiliary Officer and was known for her skills as a creative fundraiser, making significant contributions to her church community, as well as teaching Sunday School for young girls who grew to care for her later in life. Jimmie cherished the time spent with her friends often visiting, eating out and taking short trips with them. Her compassionate personality and warm heart touched the lives of many, both in her family and her wider community. She was dearly loved by not only her family, but her church family and her caregivers. Her kind neighbors, those who serviced her home and even strangers that she met while out and about loved her gentle ways. Jimmie’s legacy of love, creativity, and devotion to family and faith will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
