Jimmie Louise James, 83, of Orange, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2021.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 24, 2021, at Calvary Baptist Church in West Orange. Officiating will be Reverend David Millner and Reverend J.R. Mathis. Burial will follow at Smith Cemetery in Starks, Louisiana.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, August 23, 2021, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Born in Orange, Texas, on March 8, 1938 she was the daughter of James Riley “J.R.” Bingham and Mertie Gladys (Bean) Bingham. She was a graduate of Orange Stark High School in 1956. Jimmie Lou was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church, where she faithfully served her Lord for 70+ years. She played piano for the church from the age of 13. She also played piano in a gospel trio that played at various churches throughout Southeast Texas. Jimmie Lou worked at Gulf Credit Union, which later went on to become Great Plains Federal Credit Union. In addition to working for the Credit Union she was a substitute teacher, a notary and lifetime member of the PTA. Jimmie Lou lived a full and active life, never slowing down. She exercised with her husband, making their health and wellness a priority. Jimmie Lou spent her 60th birthday rollerblading. She was a loving wife, wonderful mother and grandmother who adored her family wholeheartedly. Jimmie Lou will be deeply missed by all those who came to know and love her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, J.R. and Mertie Bingham; sister, Betty Grandon; brother, James Eric Bingham; and great-grandson, Ethan Vincent.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, J.B. James; children, Terry James and wife Cora of Little Cypress, Clint James and wife Geniva of Orange, David James and wife Melinda of Little Cypress, and Jerlyn Hoffpauir and husband James of Hot Springs, Arkansas; grandchildren, Amanda Hall and husband Steven, Haley Yaklin and husband Jody, Joshua James and wife Michelle, Jacob James and wife Alejandria, Tiffany Dillard, Jami Vincent and husband Matthew, Justin Bearden and wife Cary, Joshua Bearden, Tyler James and wife Megan, Kassie James-Koetting and wife Marissa, Britney Judalet and husband Ricky, Kristan Emerson and husband Kirk and Caleb Hoffpauir; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jimmie Lou’s grandsons, Joshua James, Jacob James, Justin Bearden, Joshua Bearden, Tyler James, and Caleb Hoffpauir. Serving as honorary pallbearers are the Deacons of Calvary Baptist Church.
